With the conclusion of Urban Nexus project in July 2019, the BISCAST Nexus Center is set to be established to serve as a central arm of the College to propel and catalyze Nexus approach and solutions in order for the College to achieve optimized resource management and increased institutional performance and service quality.

The BISCAST Nexus Center will operate with Nexus embedded on the following essential resources of BISCAST and will serve as the unit of analysis in designing and implementation of Nexus solutions across the departments, sectors and stakeholder’s group of BISCAST: Energy, Water; Materials (natural and manufactured); and Knowledge.

The BISCAST Nexus Center shall be headed by the College President who shall oversee the overall operation of the BISCAST Nexus Center. A Technical Working Group (TWG) consisting of the Nexus Focal Person and specialists will report directly to the President and shall provide valuable inputs and technical assistance in mainstreaming the agenda of Nexus.

The Center will be guided with the following objectives: (1) Guide stakeholders to identify and pursue possible synergies between sectors, authorities, and technical domains; (2) Promote design or innovation of NEXUS solutions, integrated solutions or sets of coordinated measures; (3) Prime the College delivery units to pursue academic, research, innovation, and extension activities on the agenda of Resource Efficiency, Resilience, Green Economy, Sustainability and Circular Economy; (4) Mainstream Nexus solutions through monitoring the Nexus solution and its evaluation; and (5) Initiate capacity building and communication about Nexus approach through knowledge management and diffusions.

The proposed establishment of the BISCAST Nexus Center was recommended for approval of the Board of Trustees during the Administrative Council Meeting per ADCO Resolution No. 211 series of 2019.
