The U.S. Army Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) is one of the largest character development and citizenship programs for youth in the world. The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC ) is a federally sponsored program offered to students in high school in grades 9-12. The National Defense Act of 1916 established organized JROTC programs at public and private educational institutions. The JROTC program at Birdville High School started in 2002. The Birdville High School JROTC program is a 4-year program. According to Title 10, Section 2031 of the United States Code, the purpose of the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps is "to instill in students at secondary educational institutions the values of citizenship, service to the United States, and personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment." sense of accomplishment, while instilling in them self-esteem, teamwork, self-discipline, confidence, and pride in a job well done, and it offers each student challenges and opportunities to:
Sharpen their communication skills
Promote and encourage citizenship through participation in community service projects
Develop their leadership potential

Promote graduation from high school and develop a solid foundation for career development
Some employers spend millions of dollars training their employees to excel in many of these same skills and attitudes. By taking JROTC, cadets have an advantage over thousands of other young people who are seeking their place in the world.
