June Sessions
Elementary and Secondary Math Teachers
Algorithms are amazing historic achievements, but they are terrible teaching tools. If mathematics teaching is not about mimicking algorithms, then what? Join author Pam Harris to experience real math-ing, where we can accelerate students and get better results for more students.
This session is offered at ESC Region 11.

Can you TOUCH the math? Math at Your Fingertips is a session based on the pedagogy and strategies of using manipulatives to create conceptual learning. By starting with concrete representations of mathematical concepts, participants can plan progressions for the student development of a concept and plan for formative checkpoints to determine successful learning.

July Sessions
Secondary Math Teachers
Join us for a professional development session focused on enhancing secondary mathematics instruction through differentiation strategies. The session is designed to provide content specific instructional strategies to amplicy core content for gifted and advanced learners. Through interactive discussion and hands-on activities, participants will explore practical approaches to differentiate content, process, adn product, fostering an inclusive learning environment. We will explore what differentiated instruction really is, what it is not, and how it looks in a mathematics classroom. Additionally, we will explore what inquiry, creativity, and environment look like in the a 6th - through 12th - grade mathematics classroom and experience some easily incorporated ideas and strategies, such as parallel tasks and enrichment options that promote meaningful feedback. Participants will received 6 hours of GT update credit for this course.

PLC LOCATION CHANGED TO VIRTUAL - REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE COMMUNICATION THROUGH EDUPHORIA.
7 CPEs/Flex-Eligible / 6-Hour GT Update
Secondary Math Teachers
How mathematics is taught in the middle grades greatly impacts students' understanding of mathematical concepts in later years and, therefore, requires meaningful and connected learning experiences. This session will take participants along for a deep dive into the geometry standards for grades 6 -8, looking at vertical alignment for overarching concepts within this grade band. Join us for this session to unpack big ideas in measurement and geometry to make sense of concepts and formulas for simple and complex shapes. Teachers will earn at MGM Institute and leave equipped with routines, strategies, and resources that enable them to facilitate content that empowers middle-grade learners.

In this course, you will gain an in-depth understanding of the UDL framework, including its structure, curricular components, and the research behind it. You will understand the alignment between the three brain networks for learning and the three UDL guiding principles.
This course is the first of five modules in which you will explore a teacher’s journey through several days of professional learning and self-reflection. The Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Professional Development Series consists of five online courses, developed and intended to be completed in sequential order. It is recommended that you begin the series with Course 1, which provides a basic overview of UDL. Course 2 provides you an in-depth understanding of the UDL framework. Courses 3–5 dive into each of the UDL principles and checkpoints.
This course is offered by the Texas Education Agency and you will need your TEAL number to register. Participants will receive 6 hours of CPE credit.
