Did you know that BIrdville ISD has a contract for servicesÂ
with Region 11?
We do. Â
What does this mean? Â
This means that many, if not most, of the Region 11 classes offered are free to Birdville ISD educators. You'll need to establish your account with Region 11 (create a profile) and then when you add your classes to the cart for registration, it should come up as $0. If it doesn't read the fine print or ask your campus administrative assistant for assistance. Â
We want you to be able to take advantage of the great offerings around the DFW area. We are so fortunate to be in the middle of a plethora of amazing learning institutions. Region 11 is one of those providers. Don't be afraid to register for a Region 11 session.Â
*Remember, though, all sessions listed in this catalog are pre-approved. If you find sessions on your own, they must have immediate supervisor approval before you attend if you want to use it as Flex Eligible time.*

Birdville ISD's 24-25 Professional Learning Calendar
August 9th - BISD's Safety and Compliance Day Â
What does August 9th's Safety and Compliance Day mean? Â
When do we have Campus Professional Learning?
When do we have District Professional Learning?
Do we have half-days this year?
See the PL Calendar, linked above, to see the description of what that day is all about (click on August 9 on the calendar). While you're there, you can also explore the purpose for other district/campus days throughout the 24-25 school year! Be in the know!Â
Credits and Credit Imports
Do you have questions about the credits you’ve earned or about importing credits from outside professional learning?  Check out this page for Frequently Asked Questions (and answers!). DON’T FORGET - If you’re new to the district, make sure you transfer your portfolio of professional learning from your previous school district. See line 9 on the linked page above.
This means that if you attended a session outside of the district, you should follow the instructions to add that session into your professional portfolio. See line 2 for those directions!
Attendance
Do you have questions about your attendance at a Professional Learning session?  Check out this page for Frequently Asked Questions (and answers!). Â
See lines 3, 4, or 6 for attendance-based questions.
Can I go to out-of-district Professional Learning not listed in this catalog?
YES! However, Professional Learning sessions offered in this catalog are all vetted and considered best practice by their various departments. Â
Attending sessions listed in this catalog is our preference and does not required prior principal/administrator approval. Outside-of-district (including online) sessions not listed in this catalog require prior principals/administrator approval before they can be added into your professional learning portfolio and/or qualifiable as flex credits.
If you have prior supervisor approval to attend an out-of-district professional learning not featured in this catalog, you can add the credits to your professional learning portfolio. Please indicate you had prior supervisor approval in your credit request.

Add a Professional Learning entry to your eduphoria! Strive Portfolio
. . .but professional learning days and young children do not often mix well. Children younger than five should not be in attendance with their parent at professional learning sessions. Children five years old and up should only be in attendance with prior instructor permission. Some sessions are not conducive to having a young child present. Please reach out to the instructor listed, at least 24 hours in advance, if you need to bring your child to any professional learning session.Â
ARE YOU AN OVERZEALOUS ENROLLER?
Do you tend to enroll in lots of courses in the summer catalog and then not end up making it to all of them?
The presenters use the enrollee counts to prepare materials, secure spaces, and determine groupings / collaboration time during their sessions. If you enroll but then do not come, it complicates things. Â
If you have enrolled for something and find you can no longer attend that session, please go back into Eduphoria (or the original registration link) and simply unenroll in a timely manner. It will really help out a lot!Â
Thank you!Â
If you are a frequent no-show, you may be unenrolled from future courses in order to allow other participants to enroll who will attend.
Safe Schools Compliance Trainings
The Safe Schools courses that are a part of Birdville ISD’s yearly trainings will be available to all district staff in late July. You will receive an email notification with further instruction when Safe Schools courses are available.
While you do have August 9th allocated to take care of the completion of some District Compliance Trainings, you may want to start on these as soon as they are published. Getting them out of the way will allow you to focus on other compliance trainings during your time on August 9th.
These Compliance Trainings are not a part of the Professional Learning department. For inquiries please reach out to campus administration or the office of Risk Management.
Is your professional learning session at the PLC? Read below for PLC Particulars.
