PER HB 3, this in a REQUIRED training for all BISD staff that interact with students on a regular basis.
Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The eight-hour training gives adults who work with youth the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to students who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

This class will help you understand causes of student behavior and provide techniques to help de-escalate students in the classroom setting. Hands on strategies for positive classroom management will also be explored.

🏫CRASE - Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events
All Levels / All Staff
This course is from the Texas State School Safety Center and builds on the Avoid, Deny, Defend premise. It is a 4 hour course delivered to civilians to help them respond to an active threat event by teaching them best practices. Attendee's will be trained in best practices on how to assist during an active threat situation. The attendees will also be able to assist their campus leadership in training of staff on best practices during active threats.
