Best Practices and Techniques for the Ocean Acidification Lab
This document is a guide containing tips and reminders for teachers to most successfully implement the Ocean Acidification Lab.
Additional Materials
Ocean Acidification Transect Protocol
Ischia Island Transect Activity
Through this activity, students learn how to create a scientific transect. Students will catalogue organisms living in the water around carbon dioxide vents, helping them learn how organisms are affected by carbon dioxide in the ocean.
This activity is designed to link student's understanding of ocean acidification to real organisms. If you can have live animals available for this activity, it is helpful. All of these organisms can be viewed at Birch Aquarium at Scripps.
Survivor: Ischia Island - Species Cards
Information cards about organisms used in our "Survivor: Ischia Island" game. This game is an addition to the Ocean Acidification protocols. If you can have live animals available for this part of the activity, it is very helpful. All of these organisms can be observed at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps.
