The 2023 Binghamton Digital Humanities Research Institute (DHRI) is a 5-day intensive workshop for Binghamton University faculty, graduate students, and professional staff interested in incorporating digital tools and methods into their research, work, and classrooms. Each day is broken down into a series of sessions where participants can learn new skills and share their work with each other. The sessions will be animated by discussions about data ethics, open access, algorithmic bias, and the value of collaboration. The goal is to foster a dynamic, robust and generative digital scholarship community.
The Binghamton DHRI is hosted by the University Libraries and co-sponsored by the Digital and Data Studies Minor. It was co-founded by Amy Gay and Nancy Um who developed the program based on a ten-day residential workshop held in 2018, hosted by GC Digital Initiatives at The Graduate Center, CUNY, and funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The first Binghamton DHRI was held in Summer 2019.
