All participants are asked to check their technology is working and that they are able to access the campus wireless before the start of the week.
Please bring the following each session:
A laptop, fully charged
A charger, please note that some of the applications that we are using will draw on considerable battery power. All participants should have their chargers available during the sessions, even if they expect that a full charge will last through the day.
A mobile device (if needed for two-factor authentication) or some other way that ensures you will have access to the network either through email, desktop app, etc.
Adaptors, such as for the HDMI connection to the classroom monitors (particularly for Mac users).
The necessary materials for any notetaking you may wish to do.
After each day please:
Complete the exit tickets for sessions you attended (required for microcredential)
Complete the mini-projects for session's you attended (required for microcredential)
Look over the schedule for the next day and install any software needed for the sessions you plan on attending
All participants are strongly encouraged to use their own laptops for DHRI sessions so that they can continue to use the software and platforms that were introduced after the conclusion of the DHRI. In cases where this is not possible, a loaner may be made available, but it may not be able to offer full functionality to the user, especially if the user has not completed the campus two-factor authentication process.
Binghamton University now uses the eduroam wireless network. If you are not connected to eduroam or have changed your password, you will need to reconfigure your devices for access. Use the JoinNow tool to reconfigure each device: https://www.binghamton.edu/its/about/organization/operations-and-infrastructure/networking/wifi.html
Binghamton University requires that all accounts use two-factor authentication (2FA) for network access. 2FA often requires access to a mobile device, but can also be configured through email and there are several 3rd party desktop apps you may use as well. However you will be using 2FA, please ensure it is set-up prior to the week and you have access to the necessary devices to sign-in each day.
Here are the directions for enrolling in 2FA: https://www.binghamton.edu/its/two-fa/index.html
Each participant should bring a charger. Chargers will not be provided. Please note that some of the applications that we are using will draw on considerable battery power. All participants should have their chargers available during the sessions, even if they expect that a full charge will last through the day.
You may also be asked to hook up your laptop to a display screen with an HDMI cable. Cables will be available for you to use, but Mac users who wish to take advantage of the HDMI connection must bring their own adaptors.
