This website is here to provide you with resources for teaching with iPads in your classroom. Please visit the pages at the top for BPS iPad protocol, recommended apps and frequently asked questions. There is also information for receiving your Apple Teacher Certification, and lesson ideas for using iPads in your classroom to create with, not consume, technology!
Please reach out to your BPS Technology Integration Specialists with any questions or help integrating iPads into your classroom in meaningful ways!
It is important to remember that even though your students have access to technology, they don't have to use it all the time. Choose opportunities for students to use technology when it makes sense and makes the lesson more meaningful. Create a balance between lessons, projects and activities that use technology and ones that use more "traditional" methods. We really love this article about creating fluid learners, which was posted on the blog Wacky in One/Two. When you have a chance, we encourage you to read it!
The SAMR model is a method for helping teachers meaningfully and purposefully integrate technology into their lessons. SAMR stands for: substitution, augmentation, modification and redefinition. It was created by Dr. Ruben R. Puentedura as a means of establishing a common language across disciplines for effective technology integration in classrooms.
The SAMR model helps us think more intentionally about the apps we are using and projects we are having our students complete. To learn more about the SAMR Model and how it can be integrated into your iPad classroom, read the article A Guide for Bringing the SAMR Model to iPads, published by EdSurge.
