Again, this depends on a teacher's preference and budget. Incredibly cheap styluses are not great quality, and often cause frustration and need to be replaced often, but you can get a large quantity of them for little money. Some that we like are these by Friendly Swede, or these stylus pencils.
A multi-port USB charger is a great way to charge multiple iPads easily, without purchasing a bulky and expensive charging cart. However, it's important to be sure you're using a quality USB charger; cheap ones will not charge iPads correctly and may even cause a fire. We recommend this 10-port charger. Many teachers store these simply using file folder organizers, dish racks or small shelving units.
Always consider the purpose - what do you want your students to learn or accomplish and what is the best way to meet that goal? Your school's technology committee should be able to help you make smart selections. You can also check our iPad Apps page for ideas and guidelines for selecting apps.
There are many apps approved for use on BPS iPads that you can find on the BPS Approved Supplemental Resources spreadsheet. If there is an app that is not listed that you think would serve an important educational purpose in your classroom, you can complete a Help Ticket to have an app reviewed and possibly added to our approved apps list.
Many teachers are excited to use a digital portfolio in their classroom. Click here for ways to get started with Seesaw, a perfect tool for any age group.
The BPS tech support team is awesome! Submit a Help Desk Ticket or email help@billingsschools.org and explain the issue, and they'll be in touch to assist you.
With Apple's consistent iOS updates, we are finding that some "older" apps are not compatible and are no longer working if your iPad is running an older iOS. If a newer version of the app or an update is available, send us a Help Desk Ticket and we can help you. However, if the app has not been updated recently, we often find that the app isn't compatible with newer iOS versions and will no longer work.
