9-12 - Montana Digital Academy (MTDA)

Billings Public Schools will use Montana Digital Academy (MTDA) as a supplement to the virtual learning platform for grades 9-12.  Students who elect to take AP, dual credit and specialty courses such as Indigenous Languages will be enrolled through MTDA.  MTDA teachers to deliver content, provide student support and grading.  MTDA is an asynchronous learning platform that will require a strong commitment from the student and family to obtain success. All virtual learning courses will follow Billings Schools grading periods however students in the MTDA program must adhere to the instructional calendar designed by MTDA which may require student attendance in virtual learning during non Billings Public school days.  The MTDA school calendar may be found here. (An example of this expectation is during Spring Break in March of 2025.)

The student/parent contract sets out the standards and expectations that will be in place for virtual learning. The virtual learning platform is a semester long commitment by the student and parents/guardians. The school district reserves the right to withdraw a student from virtual learning and return to the school building should attendance and/or behavior impede a student's academic progress.

Each semester encompasses approximately 540 hours of classroom instruction and work in the school building.  Virtual learning students and families should reasonably expect to work 540 hours each semester in the virtual classroom. Hours of work within the MTDA program can be monitored by parents at any time.
