BU receives ICT-educational tools from partner church

To further strengthen and support the academe, the Brigham Young University - Hawaii (BYUH), through the Latter-Day Saint (LDS) Charities Philippines, Inc. donated ICT-educational equipment to Bicol University College of Business, Economics, and Management (BUCBEM) Accountancy Department, during the turnover ceremonies at the Legazpi Philippines Stake Center, Legazpi City, on May 2, 2023.

The donation, which is worth half a million pesos, includes four LCD projectors, one portable speaker system, two laptops, two photocopying machines, one smart television, one printer, 30 scientific calculators, and one Elmo projector. The equipment will be used to help the educational experience of the students in the Accountancy Department.

Present in the turnover ceremonies from LDS were Rodrigo R. Dorosan, Legazpi Stake President; Atty. Esmeralda Adille, Communications Representative; Noel B. Lucillo, Bishop of Legazpi Ward; Ma. Teresa C. Pangilinan, WSR Manager, Bicol; Bro. Anthony John Balledos, Education Support Services Manager; and Rodel Francisco, Legazpi Stake 2nd Counselor.

For BU, representatives were BU President Baby Boy Benjamin D. Nebres III; Prof. Analiza O. Pabilona, Chair of the Accountancy Department; Prof. Edgar Barrameda, CBEM Dean; Dr. Dimson M. Rivero, International Relations Office Director; Dr. Ma. Julieta B. Borres, VP for Academic Affairs; Dr. Reina O. Habalo, Chief Presidential Management Staff; Dr. Renelyn E. Mascariñas,  Professor Emeritus and former BU President; Dr. Amelia A. Dorosan, former VP for Academic Affairs; and the select BS Accountancy students in CBEM.

Behind the partnership is the university’s collaboration with Brigham Young University - Hawaii (BYUH), an LDS-affiliated university. It can be recalled that a General Bilateral Agreement (GBA) was signed between the universities wherein BU will be offering BYUH Filipino students the post-baccalaureate requirement needed to take licensure examinations. The partnership is set to continue to foster academic excellence and knowledge-sharing in the years to come.
