BU to take part in first Climate Smart Hub in PH

The Local Climate Change Adaptation for Development, Inc. (LCCAD) forged a partnership with Bicol University, through a Memorandum of Understanding, joining forces for the development and establishment of the Climate Vulnerable to Disaster Resilient Albay (CVDRAL) and Climate Smart Hub, held at the Ricardo A. Arcilla Building conference room on January 5, 2023


This partnership will allow the sharing of knowledge and expertise between LCCAD and BU, unifying their mission to promote resilience against climate-related disasters in Albay. The university will assist the local government units, private sector, academic institutions, industries, institutions, and stakeholders in the Bicol Region as an arm of LCCAD in implementing the project. The university's involvement will be to provide technical assistance, support research, and development, facilitate the transfer of technology, and conduct extension activities that would benefit all the aforementioned stakeholders.


According to its objectives, the CVDRAL and Climate Smart Hub will function basically as a coordinating, collaborative, advisory, policy, and management body and platform for programs, projects, and related activities for climate change adaptation and mitigation, disaster resilience, renewable energy, and a resilient Albay.

Habalo, BU College of Social Sciences Dean Atty. Alex Nepomuceno, Private Sector Representative of the BU Board of Regent Jed Bellen, Polangui Vice Mayors’ League President Cherilie M. Sampal, BU Legal Officer Atty. Daryl Redoblado, other LGU partners that were represented by their officials, as well as media partner representatives.
