BU finishes BLEPT with 4 top notchers; BUD, BUT is top 8 school in PH

In a remarkable achievement, Bicol University (BU) has once again proven its commitment to teaching excellence as it produced four top notchers and two campuses were included among the top-performing schools in the country in the recent Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT).

The results revealed that an alumna of the university, Rochelle Anne G. Galve, landed on the 8th top-notcher spot with an outstanding 90.6% average at the elementary level. Meanwhile, Andrea Grace A. Nocete and Joanna G. Barbacena, claimed the 8th and 10th spots with a remarkable 91.4% and 91% scores, respectively, in the secondary level. 

Gelli A. Guillermo, who is now a faculty member of the BU College of Education Integrated Laboratory School (CEILS) - High School department, also made it to the 9th rank of the secondary level with a 91.2% rate. 

Alongside this outstanding feat, Bicol University Daraga (BUD) and Bicol University Tabaco (BUT) have been recognized as two of the top-performing schools in the country, landing in the 8th rank both in the elementary and secondary levels, respectively. 

Overall, BU produced 194 elementary teachers and 651 secondary teachers who achieved 89.4% and  67.74% passing rates, respectively. Both results are above the national passing rates of 40.77% for the elementary level and 46.95% for the secondary level. 

8 BU personnel passes 2023 BLEPT 

Meanwhile, eight more BU personnel also passed BLEPT. Christina Olorosco (BU General Administrative and Support Service Accounting Office), Genelyn L. Espinar (University Registrar’s Office), Analiza M. Nuñez (Office of the Vice President for Planning and Development), Jonel N. Solano (Business Affairs Office), Andrei Ashley E. Araña (Institute of Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation), Jamilah May B. Barcellano (BUT), Leslie Mae Opeña (BUCEILS), and Sarah Maraño (BUCEILS). 

BLEPT is a rigorous assessment administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) to determine the competency of aspiring educators. The examination covers various subjects related to education and teaching methodologies, including general education, professional education, and specialization subjects.

As BU continues to raise the bar in education and produce exceptional graduates, the university remains steadfast in its commitment to providing quality education and contributing to the development of highly competent teachers who will shape the future of education in the Philippines.
