EXTENSION AND COMMUNITY INVOLVMENT
AREA 6
The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DABE) actively promotes meaningful extension and community engagement by involving alumni, stakeholders, and beneficiaries in the planning and implementation of its programs. This is achieved through consultative meetings, focus group discussions, interviews, and surveys that ensure inclusiveness and relevance to community needs.
Supporting documents, such as reports, attendance sheets, and memoranda, have been carefully prepared to justify activities and initiatives undertaken. Community-based assessments and pre-extension surveys were conducted to guide project planning and execution. The department also develops and promotes its own technologies, such as the pili postharvest processing system, and shares these through techno-demonstrations and the production of information materials.
DABE utilizes an approved extension manual to guide operations and regularly works with university accreditors to improve the quality of its documentation. Efforts are made to align extension initiatives with national, regional, and local development goals while fostering collaboration with other academic units and external agencies. Continuous improvements are being pursued to enhance participation, impact, and integration of extension efforts.Β
