Adult Education (Trade Programs)
Funds allow local IE&T providers to help District residents:
Make measurable skills gains (including educational functioning level gains or acquire a High School Diploma or its equivalent),
Transition to postsecondary education or training,
Earn postsecondary education credentials and industry recognized certifications,
Enter employment to earn family sustaining wages,
Pursue a career path and advance in their careers, and
Make progress toward the achievement of self-sufficiency.
These providers prepare District residents for careers in DC’s high-demand industries:
Business Administration and Information Technology
Construction
Healthcare
Hospitality
Infrastructure (Energy & Utilities, Energy Efficient Technology & Transportation & Logistics)
Law and Security
The Adult and Family Education unit also facilitates state leadership activities including professional development, technical assistance and monitoring; provides resources (software, instructional materials, equipment, and assistive technology) to adult education providers and partners in the city; and maintains and reports state and local program performance, progress and outcome data to the U.S. Department of Education, city officials, and other stakeholders
