Student Support

Our mission is to provide each student with core values, knowledge, and skills in order to thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and physically in our diverse world, to develop character, and to achieve full potential in one's personal and professional life.

Counseling Curriculum

The counseling curriculum is designed to address competencies in three domains: personal/social, academic, and college/career. Counseling lessons are held during select academic classes or during the students' study halls several times throughout the school year.

Learning Center Tutoring

The Freshman Learning Center (FLC) and Supported Learning Center (SLC) offer supports for students who need additional academic assistance in English, mathematics, and science. The FLC and SLC are staffed with certified high school teachers who are available four days a week during all study hall periods. The tutors work with students individually and in small groups; no appointment is needed. The SLC tutors are available as a support for upperclassmen who have a study hall period in their schedules.

Titan Tutors

Titan Tutors are junior and senior students, most of whom are members of the National Honor Society, who provide help to other students who need academic support in all core and most elective subject areas. The tutors provide help during all study hall periods. Students sign up for tutoring in the Student Services Office. The student's counselor will assist them in selecting tutors who are comfortable working in the subject area in which the student requires assistance. Titan Tutors are available by appointment only.

PowerSchool Parent Portal

The Parent Portal website gives parents/guardians the ability to monitor their students' academic progress. The parent portal displays a student's overall grades, grades on individual assignments/assessments, and other academic records. The site can be found at https://bhsd228.powerschool.com/public/home.html. Please contact the Student Services office for log-in assistance.

PRIDE (Progression of Responsibility, Independence, Determination and Excellence)

PRIDE is a resource program that supports students socially, emotionally and academically during lunch/study hall periods. The purpose of the PRIDE program is to improve academics and to modify unproductive behavior patterns. Students enrolled in the program will have access to both social work and academic assistance.
