The Monument French program will be initiating an exchange in the 2022-2023 academic year. This program is the culmination of a relationship begun in January 2022 with the Lycée Alphonse Daudet in Tarascon, France, a small town near the mouth of the Rhône river in the western part of Provence. Monument students made videos and wrote emails to their counterparts in France and received them in return. Madame Siegel traveled to Tarascon in July 2022, with the support of the Berkshire Hills Fund for Excellence, and made an in-person connection with the English teacher and administrators there. Students from the lycée will be visiting Monument in January and early February 2023, and Monument students will be traveling to France in March, spending a few days sightseeing in Paris and then a week with families in and around Tarascon, attending school at the lycée and visiting the extraordinary Roman sites and other attractions of this historically and culturally rich region.

We expect to run this exchange every other year for Monument students in good standing as a culminating experience and language and cultural immersion for advanced French students.
