What is Human Geography? Geography is the study of Earth and its people. It helps us understand how people, places, and environments came to be and how they affect each other. Human geography is the study of people as they have spread across Earth.
School Supply List
2 inch binder - no zipper binders please.
Earbuds/headphones - students will be required to watch short clips, news, and additional videos on their chromebook. Earbuds MUST be compatible to fit chromebook! (Can be found at Dollar Tree or 5 Below). BLUETOOTH earbuds will not be allowed IN THE CLASSROOM as they must be disconnected from cellphones which takes time and can be distracting.

Wish List
Any help purchasing additional supplies is greatly appreciated, but not mandatory. Every donation received will benefit ALL students. In the current climate of this pandemic, COVID19 has wiped out resources across the globe and has put many more in a financial bind. At no point do I want you to feel obligated to give. However, for the past 15 years I have always asked for these same supplies and I want you to KNOW that every item will benefit the well being of your child. It has ALWAYS been a practice of mine to wipe down and spray desks periodically as needed throughout the day. Our school district is doing a great job supplying each classroom with necessary resources for cleaning.

Homework Policy
Simply put, I don't have one. Believe it or not, I do not assign homework. I create meaningful, interactive practice and lessons. Students will have tasks embedded in their notes to connect the learning and extend it beyond the textbook. There will be ample time to complete necessary work during class.
HOWEVER, if students do not complete work during class time, they must take it home to complete as homework. In the event that we switch to NTI (Non-Traditional Instruction), students will be required to submit homework and complete tests via Google Classroom. You will receive a detailed calendar in the NTI tab of my teacher site. Please refer to it daily.
Cellphone Policy
All LEAD Academy classrooms will be cellphone free. Students are required to put up cellphones and remove earbuds/airpods BEFORE entering the classroom. I do not allow phones out for ANY reason. Phones must NOT be visible during the course of the entire class period. There are zero exceptions to this rule.
Failure to abide by these rules will result in phone being turned in to teacher or principal, major referral, detention, ALC and/or loss of privileges.
Parents, please help me communicate these expectations. Students, please understand that this rule is in effect to reduce distractions and maximize your learning experience. Phones are allowed before school, during lunch and class changes.
Binder Information
You are going to need one 2 inch binder for my class. This is due to the fact that you will keep EVERY worksheet, assignment, quiz, test, and handout. I will conduct a binder check at the end of EVERY quarter. Your binder needs to be well organized and complete to receive maximum credit.
As an incentive to keep your binder neat and organized, you will be allowed to use your binder on your final in December and May. The more organized it is, the easier your final will be.
You are NOT required to bring your binder to class everyday. To reduce the weight of your backpack and keep your stress level down, keep your binder at home. Please check your monthly calendars that outline the exact days that you will need them in class. You will need your folder and Chromebook daily. .

Bring your binder to class Wednesday, August 31st. We will put it together in class.
You will need a total of 5 tab dividers to separate each quarter. (In years past, I have required a tab for each chapter, but I have decided to downsize this year.) Here are the TAB names:

Electronic Textbook
Students will be issued an E-Book or Electronic Book for the course. They can access the text and accompanying material at anytime by logging into their account.

Chromebooks
Students, you will be required to bring your chromebook to class daily. It is your responsibility to make sure they are adequately charged for the day. Per LEAD Academy expectations, students will not be allowed to charge chromebooks during class time to reduce distractions and interruptions to the learning taking place. Make it a habit to charge your chromebook each night before you go to bed.
