It's been awhile since we were able to truly travel and explore our world, but we can still visit amazing places virtually...and it's free!

Bruce Power, Bruce County Museum offer free digital field tripIn celebration of Earth Week, Bruce Power has partnered with the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre to offer a free digital field trip for students to learn from local experts who will share their knowledge about water, soil and wildlife.
“We are excited to partner with the museum on this fun and informative program,” said Danielle LaCroix, Bruce Power’s director of environment and sustainability. “Students will get to learn about the local environment and the ways humans have affected Bruce County ecosystems over the past 200 years.”
Through a series of video interviews, featuring photos from the Bruce County Archives that connect to the interview locales, the program connects directly to the biodiversity strand of the Grade 6 science curriculum, and draws connections and suggests activities that can be used in social studies, as well as Grades 7 and 8 history and geography.
“The museum has been partnering with Bruce Power to bring environmental programming to schools across the county for several years,” said Cathy McGirr, director of museum and cultural services at the museum. “We are pleased to be able continue this programming in a new virtual format which has the potential for even more students across the region to participate.”
Starting Monday, April 19, a video interview will be released each day until Earth Day (April 22). Along with each interview, the video will demonstrate an activity students can do at home to better understand an environmental concept or help out the environment. Also, April 22, the museum will host a virtual panel discussion, featuring the interview guests and allowing students to ask questions.
