When schools are open again, students can place holds while logged into their Board devices and holds will be delivered to classrooms. Each time a hold is placed, the librarian will receive a notification, check the item(s) out to the student and deliver it to their classroom. Students are not to visit the library personally at this time.
Destiny can be accessed from SHINE, our St. Anthony's School website (https://sta.bgcdsb.org/current_news) or the Follett Destiny link above and at the top of every page of this St. Anthony's School Library website. Feel free to place a shortcut on devices to this link (instructions for this are included).
1. Students login to their school device.
2. Navigate to Destiny https://bgcdsb.follettdestiny.ca/. This is the Destiny Discover home page.
Optional: Bookmark this page so you have quick and easy access to it. To Bookmark click and hold the “lock” symbol in the address bar and drag it to your toolbar.
3. Select St. Anthony’s School. Destiny Discover home page should appear.
4. Login. Click “Log In” on the top right of your screen.
5. Click the blue button on the left that says BGCDSB Azure SSO. This automatically logs you into your account. You should now see your name at the top left of the screen. Go ahead and search for books.
6. To place a Hold (this tells librarian you would like to check this item out), search Destiny Discover. Click on any title for more information on it. If you find an item you would like to check out, click “Hold”. If you change your mind, click “Unhold”. Your search results page will also offer suggestions for other books you may like.
7. The Librarian will see any Holds you placed, check out to you and deliver to your classroom.
That’s it!
Alternatively, you can also click on the Slideshow below, courtesy of fellow librarian Sarah Boisvenue, taking you step by step through the process..
Where do students already go to search for information? Google! The Destiny Discover Google Chrome extension lets you see Destiny resources alongside Google search results (when you use the Chrome browser to perform a Google search).
Please encourage students to install the extension to make finding your valuable library resources as easy as a Google search. Students can click on the books and they will be directed right into the library catalogue.
