My name is Shonna Gaul. I completed my undergraduate studies at Northeastern University and graduate studies at Lesley University. This is my first year teaching fifth grade at BFCCPS. I am a passionate supporter of this school and have previously worked as a First Grade Classroom Assistant and Substitute Teacher at BFCCPS. These experiences afforded me the opportunity to work in each of the K-8 grade levels.
My approach to teaching begins first by developing strong partnerships and recurrent communication with parents. I will strive to understand and support the unique learning styles and challenges of each student I am fortunate to work with this year. I will model and foster a growth mindset and set the tone that high achievement comes within a learning environment that has high expectations. One important goal I have for this year is to encourage students to read independently and challenge themselves with a wide variety of books.
I am originally from Massachusetts and my husband James and I have been residents of Franklin for 14 years. I am also a mother to 3 current BFCCPS students, twins Brendan and Sabrina (6th grade) and Brian (3rd grade). I also have a 2 year old rescue dog named Harry.
When I am not teaching I love to read, go for walks, cook, and entertain. Spending time with my extended family is very important to me.
