The student Chromebook device and accompanying stylus are essential tools for success in school now more than ever.
Chromebook must be charged fully every night. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, students will not be permitted to charge their Chromebooks in the classroom.
The stylus is the pen/pencil students will need to complete their work. Students who lose their stylus have to write with their finger. Students generally do not like this method. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no sharing of the stylus or loaners permitted this year.
Students should completely shut down their Chromebook every night or morning before use. This greatly improves the Chromebook's ability to handle all of the tasks a student will use it for throughout a typical school day.
Students should also learn to clear their cookies and internet data from their Chromebook and complete that task daily as well.
This is the student information portal. Please make sure your family information is up to date. This is where you will find:

Students will annotate the files and/or complete the assignments and turn them in to me. Any assignment not turned in will not be scored or receive credit, not turned in = I did not receive it.
Students will use the topics in the classwork section to follow the class.
The stream will only be used for announcements.

I have used this for assessment by giving students the ability to repeat the quiz as many times as necessary to get a 100. The student can always record a 100 on these assessments if they spend the time to truly know the vocabulary.
Google meet is Google's version of video conferencing software. It is one of 2 approved choices we have to use. There are advantages and disadvantages when using Google Meet. I will soon decide what video conferencing platform I will use to start the year, but I could switch at any time based on the ever changing features.

Zoom is the leading version of video conferencing software for higher education and business. Zoom ran into some difficulties with security but fixed those issues quickly with the Education edition. Zoom has a much better interface and very much better facilitator meeting controls. The down side to zoom is it uses more of the cpu on the Chromebook, therefore students need to clear cookies and restart their machines every day in order to successfully participate in the meetings. This is good practice anyway when using Chromebooks as they are no way near as powerful as laptop computers.
