Each student will have the opportunity to apply to be a part of the Bethel Ministry Team. When a student is approved for the Bethel Ministry Team, they can be called on to minister for any Bethel minister traveling to the students’ region once they have completed training. Students must complete the first two semesters of BSSM Online and be approved for ministry by their Revival Group Pastor. Some students may not become part of the team as we have a very high standard for those who are able to minister as Bethel’s representatives at Bethel-led services and conferences.
With BSSM Online, ministry looks like more than just being a part of a prayer line and praying for people. We are changing the way ministry looks online with online prayer rooms, manning the chat rooms for Bethel Online church services, supporting the translation teams, as well as other online opportunities that may arise.
Important Note: You may not pray for people at the altar during Bethel-led services or conferences until you have been released to join the Bethel Ministry Team (unless directed to do so in a particular service by the leaders of the meeting)! Until you have been approved for the ministry team, we ask that you do not minister in a Bethel-led service. Take this opportunity to receive from the Lord during this time.
Once you have been released to be on the Bethel Ministry Team during Bethel-led services or conferences, you are a vital part of the team and we expect you to be available to pray at the end of any service you attend.
The following guidelines are helpful for any ministry team situation, but please honor the guidelines set by your home church if you choose to serve on the ministry team there.
We are seeking to bring people into an encounter with the Holy Spirit, not necessarily to display our gifting or discernment.
End-of-service prayer is not a time to direct or correct.
Pointing out “there’s a block in your life” can be perceived as negative or hurtful. Declare what God wants to do; don’t declare the problem.
It is not a time to counsel or to do in-depth ministry.
Do not pray with the opposite gender one-on-one, unless instructed to do so by a leader for a particular meeting. Either pray for the same gender or pray in pairs. (Two women praying for a man, etc.)
If you start manifesting intensely, take your hands off the person, but keep praying.
No pushing, grabbing, blowing in the face, or praying in tongues loudly in general.
Be pleasant and inviting: use breath mints and deodorant.
Pray with your eyes open (people fall down) and with your attention on the moment.
To be on the team you must know who you are in Christ and be addiction free, so you can set other people free.
Treat all people with love, honor, and respect.
