What do School Counselors do?

Support students' academic, college, and career development
Teach students friendship skills, how to resolve conflicts, and prevent bullying
Teach students self-management and problem solving skills
Teach coping skills to promote student well-being
Connect students with appropriate resources for long-term support when needed.
Work with families, teachers, administrators and community partners to help all students succeed!!

Meet your Counselor:

Hello! My name is Rachael Barker. I am the counselor at Willard Elementary. Willard students are amazing, and I am excited to watch them learn and grow this year.

I work with students through classroom presentations each week. I also provide small groups, and short term individual instruction. Parents will be notified if their student is referred for a small group or short term individual instruction. I work closely with teachers and they also help reinforce the lessons taught in their classrooms. I do not provide therapy or long term instruction but I can help with local agencies and resources if that is something that is needed.
