About

“A song can change the world” — Pete Seeger

The Songs for Social Change contest encourages Berklee students to write new songs expressing their deeply felt convictions about social issues of concern. The goal and purpose is to promote positive social change. There is no restriction on theme, perspective, or musical style.

Begun in 2008, S4SC now awards more than $13K annually to Berklee student songwriters. The contest is adjudicated by Berklee faculty, led by contest facilitator Mark Simos (Songwriting).
