May Bi-Weekly Updates

  • Farewell to Ms. Bracamontes, she will be heading to Alameda Unified to lead her own school. Please refer to her farewell letter embedded below.
  • Need a chromebook or need an instrument? Please be aware that the Ed Hub is moving on 5/18. It will move to the Berkeley Adult School at 1701 San Pablo Avenue. Instruments will remain available at the VAPA building on Mondays only, from 12 - 2pm, for now.
  • We have been actively reaching out to students and families that have not signed onto any classes or returned calls from our counseling team and/or teachers. As a community, you can help:
    • Motivate your student to sign on to Google Classroom and to attend Office Hours whenever possible.
    • Motivate your student to reach out to friends via social media and urge them to participate in Google Classroom and Office Hours. Access to Knowledge is key.
    • Share information with other families whenever possible.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Longfellow Plant Sale...coming Saturday 5/23

    • There are currently hundreds of tomatoes, peppers, basil, watermelons, cucumbers, zucchini, pumpkins, beans, sunflowers, and so many more baby plants growing in the Longfellow courtyard,
    • We will post the full plant inventory list on our Cooking & Gardening blog (longfellowgrows.org) on Saturday, May 16.
    • In order to keep everyone safe, we will require everyone to pre-order online before coming to pick up their plants.
    • All visitors will be required to wear face coverings and respect social distancing norms.
    • This will be a pay-what-you-can plant sale, and our goal is to distribute plants to as many Longfellow students, families, and staff as possible.
    • While donations are completely optional, all proceeds from the plant sale will directly support our school garden program.
