Press Release - Shawn Hipol hired to lead Girls basketball program

The Berkeley High Athletic Program is excited to announce the hiring of Shawn Hipol (“Coach Hip”) to lead our girls basketball program.

Coach Hip comes to Berkeley with a career record of 230 and 90 after 21 years of high school coaching at Skyline High School in Oakland and Saint Joseph’s of Alameda. In the last 11 years, his teams have made the NorCal playoffs eight times, won six league titles, and won three NCS championships. He was recently named the 2020 NCS Coach of the Year by the Bay Area News Group.

More importantly, Coach Hip has a proven record of building a culture of excellence by supporting the academic and extra-curricular development of his players and emphasizing team sportsmanship, hard work, and a “One Family” vision. His teams regularly engage in community service and team bonding activities.
