Press Release - Mike Hudson named new boys basketball coach

Berkeley High School is excited to announce the hiring of Coach Mike Hudson as new Head Coach of the Berkeley Boys Basketball program. Mike brings over 10 years of coaching experience to BHS. He joins us after stints at Richmond-Kennedy and Piedmont where he took two teams with losing records the year before his arrival and amassed a record of 77 wins and 46 losses and two deep runs into the state playoffs.

In addition to his coaching experience, Mike is an accomplished educator and leader. After coordinating after-school programs in Richmond for 5 years, Mike transitioned to a classroom teacher in 2014. Currently, he is an English and Humanities teacher in OUSD. He uses basketball to teach life lessons and emphasizes the importance of being a STUDENT-athlete.

From Coach Hudson:

First off, it is an honor for me to be Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Berkeley High! I am overly excited about the opportunity to coach in Berkeley, which has always been known as a city of resilience and achievement. I plan to bring that same mentality to the Berkeley Basketball program. I have tremendous support from the people up top and look forward to establishing a relationship with the school community at large. I am already working everyday to ensure that I put my best foot forward as coach of this program. To the players, we have work to do, as student-athletes, as global citizens. I look forward to our journey together!
