Verification of Residence and Transfer Students
For more information regarding transfers please visit: NCS Transfer Eligibility Infomation
If you attended another school (other than Berkeley High or your middle school) within the last 12 months, you are considered a transfer student. This includes, but is not limited to: foreign exchange students, BHS students who study abroad and home-school students. If you are considered a transfer student, you must set up an appointment with the Athletic Director as soon as possible. As a transfer student you are required to: meet with the Athletic Director, complete additional forms regarding residential eligibility and be approved by the North Coast Section (NCS) in order to be eligible to play in games and scrimmages. Transfer students may still tryout and practice with a team, but they are NOT ELIGIBLE to participate in any athletic contest until they are cleared by the BHS Athletic Office and the NCS Office.
Students who intend to participate in athletics must see their Athletic Director/Principal immediately if the student:
Transfers from one school to another;
Changes residence while attending his/her current school;
Plans to transfer to another school without changing address.
Failure on the part of an athlete to report his/her current legal residence or a change of residence to the Athletic Director/Principal of the school s/he is attending may result in:
Athletic ineligibility for the athlete for at least one year;
Forfeiture of all contests/games won by the team on which the ineligible student played.
Please note: Students who transfer to another school are at risk of losing or restricting their eligibility.
