University of California Faculty Writing Initiative
This initiative is a multi-campus collaborative project focused on supporting the advancement, retention, and satisfaction of faculty through the institutionalization and expansion of campus-based writing programs and the creation of yearly multi-day UC-wide writing retreats.
The project builds on successful elements of three independent AFD-funded writing programs administered at UC Irvine, UC Davis, and UC Santa Barbara, including cohort-based writing communities, workshops and presentations, and access to technical experts to support finalization of manuscripts and proposals.
Overall goals for participating UC faculty include supporting their writing productivity and advancement, increasing the sense of satisfaction with campus networks and connections, and supporting a sense of community and belonging, ultimately leading to improved retention.
