Washing with Acetone

Weigh a clean, dry 25-mL filter flask. Move the Hirsch funnel with the solid over to this flask and add 2 mL of acetone to the solids in the funnel, stir, and then vacuum filter. Repeat with this step twice more, for a total of 6 mL of acetone.

This video shows side by side views of the filtration setup. The top down view on the left and the side view on the right. There is a white solid already on the filter. A pipet comes into frame and dispenses a colorless liquid and the pipet tip is used to mix up the liquid and solid. The colorless liquid filters through into the filter flask below and the white solid remains on the frit. This process is repeated two more times.
