Humid CO2 Adsorption in Zeolites
Synthesis of Mesoporous Y Catalysts with Large Mesoporous
Katz Group Research Projects
The Katz group designs and synthesizes materials for catalysis and adsorption applications with an emphasis on controlling the molecular-scale environment at the active site. Our toolkits include organic-inorganic active sites as well as inorganic sites consisting of cation-exchanged zeolites. We lead in areas such as the supporting of molecular catalyst active sites on oxide surfaces, and grafting calixarene macrocycles on solid surfaces -- an area that we invented more than two decades ago and currently continue innovation on. We focus our approaches on contemporary problems currently involving CO2 storage from flue gas, CO2 hydrogenation, solid catalysts for hydrogen storage using LOHC (liquid organic hydrogen carriers), upcycling of oxygenated polymer waste, and enabling continuous pharmaceutical manufacturing via solid enantioselective catalysts.
