Participant 2 ~ "prototype 2... stuck out... the most, it factors... schedule and shows me friends who are also attending the events/shows...helps me manage time...sorts through events with my preferences."
Friend section is useful in how it shows your acquaintances that are going to attend certain events as you can click into each event for a pop-up list.
The apps prototypes are pretty easy to navigate without too much clutter as everything is neatly sorted into their own tabs.
The apps don't fully help you track your financial expenses or financial preferences as the only thing it shows is the price in the prototypes.
Participant 4 ~ "[For prototype 3] I think the tinder-style UI is super fun, but I wish it was more intuitive at first glance."
Although this wasn't in the tasks, they mentioned that the map at the bottom of the prototype stood out and that it seems useful to them, but where it could be configured on the page could be changed
Was able to list a lot of the visual information on 1 fairly quickly, completed that task pretty quickly
Liked that they could undo the action in Prototype 2
Participant 1 ~ ""
Prototype needs to provide more support for users, features undoing an action isn't apparent.
Ranking of events are largely helpful for finding new events to attend
Friend section isn't entirely helpful due to better communication through other applications.
Participant 3 ~ "prototype 1 felt familiar to use because it was so similar to scrolling on Instagram—something I do daily."
Found that the icons for the buttons on prototypes 1 and 2 helped her navigate each interface more easily because she knew what they meant.
She felt that she does not often review any live events because there isn't a central place for the purpose of reviewing. Felt that prototype 1 was the most review centered with 'highly ranked' pointers on some cards
Prototype 2's aesthetic was most pleasing to her because it was simple and clean. It also reminded her of Snackpass, which she has positive interactions with and it hence made her feel more at easy with this protoype/
Participant 5 ~ "prototype 2 was the most intuitive in navigation, however prototype 1 was the best for finding events"
Prototype 1 easily allowed you to see key information such as cost, location and date for events. It also allowed for key visuals to be seen, which could spike interest.
Prototype 2 did have the event radar and friends attending, but it didn't allow them to discover events that were out of the user's niche
On prototype 1, the participant mentioned that they would like to see a bit more information and more event cards.
Participant 1- Dark horse prototype: Make the swipe feature more apparent, participant didn't know they could swipe left or right or even where to swipe to decline or accept the concert idea. They didn't know whether it was up and down, or left and right. Not visible enough and not enough guidance.
Participant 2 - All prototypes : You should include a search bar to make it easier to find a certain category in the filter and certain concerts that you are interested in that aren't shown on the app's pages. Currently all the prototpyes don't have a search bar making it more difficult if you wanted to find an exact show or performance.
Participant 3 - Prototype 2: Wished the ranking/review feature was more prominent in the UI so it was easy to tell if an event would be fun. Maybe add 'highly rated' tags like the cards on prototype 1 had or a similar filter.
Participant 4 - Keep the map from prototype 1 and try to incorporate it into prototype 2? Dark Horse seems fun but just not intuitive and needs more organization in terms of putting other information and rankings of friends.
Participant 5 - Combine Prototype 1 and 2 together, where the event scouting from prototype 1 is a page to find events outside of the user's niche and social circle. Then on a social page, have the Event Radar and Friends attending cards. Prototype 1's filter buttons were also a little confusing, and the participant recommended to have only 1 filter button, and a popup menu that selects ratings and dates.
Somethings we would do differently next time if we were to do these interviews again would to possibly host the interviews in person. Participant 1 had a hard time understanding what was needed to be done and needed more guidance regarding the tasks provided. Being there in person would make the interview easier on the interviewee since they could ask clarification questions right away. Participant 2 needed some pointers toward how to use the prototypes and what we were actually trying to achieve. Having them "think aloud" was sometimes awkward for the participant as they weren't sure if they should report everything or just the simply things.
Understanding the app has a major role in how the users perceive the app. First impressions have a massive impact on how the usability and retention of users. Because our hi fidelity prototypes only had the pages we wanted to test, there were some dead pages and missing functionality. For example, Prototype 3 was the worst received by our users because they didn't know how to use it. In the future, we would like to have a more in depth instruction set and context to allow our participants to better understand our purpose.
