Our "How might we?" statement has evolved through our ideas we made while brainstorming for prototypes and our critique presentation. We decided to narrow down our scope towards college students. Furthermore, after our brainstorming session, the majority of ideas suggest using an online platform that will showcase ratings and reviews left by peers. Along with that they all point toward assisting the user in deciding which live events will best fit their preferences through all the data taken in from existing summaries and information given by other users. These all push our statement from just helping people decide which events to centering it more around using an online platform.
Most Likely
This solution utilizes the user making a profile and inputting their preferences, tags, location for events near them.
Then by using the information on the user, the page offers recommendations with their related tags and ratings listed on the right.
This prototype will also feature a map that shows nearby shows to the location the user previously set in their account.
This eliminates the need to search for shows near you as well as finding out whether or not that show is something you would vibe with.
This prototype will also include a search bar at the front/top of the page that automatically applies filters based on your preferences when you use it.
Most Delight
This solution combines friends and schedules to make sure the events the user sees on their page will be more tailored to their daily life.
This page would take in the user's profile data, contacts and their calendar, to list events that the user would have time to attend as well as friends to attend with. This eliminates the need to go back and forth worth with friends as well as the need to check your schedule separately.
This solution also will include a "gifting" feature that makes it so if you buy the tickets through this site, they will offer you points that you can collect to buy a "free" ticket.
Dark Horse
This solution uses the idea of swiping left or right from tinder but translating it to events that you might be interested or not.
The events that pop up on the screen are generated through interests and additional information you place in your profile.
Slowly as you start to use the app more, it begins to tailor more to your interests and tries not to show the user something outside of the users range of interests.
Clicking on the event profile allows the person to find out more about the event and who to reach out to for more information.
Idea: Simple App showing recommendations around the user.
We thought that this was most likely to work due to its simplicity through the map that can let individuals see events close to them as well as their ratings and reviews from other users.
What do you like about this prototype?
This prototype is nice as it includes a tab dedicated to ratings and a search bar to make it easier to search for any performance with keywords.
It also includes a list of recommendations with reviews from people who have attended the show before and a map in the bottom right corner that shows nearby shows that can be filtered.
The prototype is also aesthetic and minimalist, not overwhelming the user with information and each function is intuitive to use
What else would you like to explore?
This prototype has a lot of rating features that I think could be more consolidated into the ratings tab.
It could also benefit from a feature that allows you to communicate with others online who have attended the show if you have any inquires regarding the performance.
This prototype answers the question of what performances nearby are highly rated and what the environment is like at that certain event. These are answered through the reviews from people who also use this platform who have previously attended that event.
Other questions this prototype clearly answers is the location as well as which events are a best fit. Due to the user profile feature, people can login and select what tags/reviews are most relatable allowing this prototype to leverage an algorithm to also give quality recommendations.
Idea: Event Radar, Friends Attending list, Gifting features
The built in friending, gifting, and the scheduling features will let you know if the user is free for that event, and helps users arrange friends to go with them. Moreover, the gift feature also allows you to gift your friends tickets or "points" that can be collected to get a free ticket or provide discounts.
What do you like about this prototype?
This prototype is nice in the way it incorporates your friends and schedule into account of the shows you could potentially attend.
The recent hits tab allows you to see the top performances of the various genres of music and the friends tab makes it so you don't need to individually ask each friend. This gives you ease as you can just click and view the people who are going.
What else would you like to explore?
Something that could be incorporated into this design would be a user preference feature that would automatically filter out the events that your friends are going to if you do not prefer that genre of music or type of performance.
This prototype answers the question of whether or not you will be going with friends and if your schedule is empty at those times. This is done through how this prototype lists which current events your friends have brought tickets to and also showcases your calendar on the right, allowing you to see empty time slots. On top of this, this prototype answers the question of whether or not people will use it, which is heavily encouraged by how you can send gifts to your friends when you purchase a ticket.
We voted this as Dark horse due to its simplicity yet it gets the job done. The details are listed briefly before you decide whether you like the idea of attending events similar to the one presented.
What you like about the prototype:
You don't have to go searching for events yourself. They pop up according to your interests and what you decide to swipe left or right on.
The events are presented to the user and all they have to do is say yes or no before proceeding to learn more about it or continuing with the next event.
What else would you like to explore?
Add more social features to the app
Possibly a chat feature to talk with others on the app who have similar interests and maybe even meet up when you both swipe right on an event!
Show friends that have already committed to going to this event when swiping
Show if there is free items at the event (such as food)
This prototype answers the questions of what the current performances are, where they are, and how relatable they are to you. This is done by how this prototype shows the ratings, the distance, type of event, and common tags that are related to your user profile. This prototype is also solving the potential question of whether or not it is easy to use based on how you can just swipe "left" for good and "right" for bad.
What question does the prototype seek to answer?
To answer the HMW, this prototype seeks the focus on a holistic question on how to increase event discoverability and how the user can guarantee their utility whilst attending live events.
Biggest risk involved?
The biggest risk of this prototype is abusing the app in order to promote their own self run events or if they choose to completely go in another direction to what the app was intended for. This includes people who make posts with fake reviews or provide negative experiences on purpose. This can affect other users and how they decide on what events to attend or not due to fake ratings and dishonest comments. This can all lead to the app going downhill and have people not rely on it anymore.
What question does the prototype seek to answer?
To answer the HMW, this prototype seeks the focus on the question on how a user finds events. It also seeks to answer the questions of availability for the user to attend the events.
Biggest risk involved?
The biggest risk of this prototype is not hitting critical user mass. This app depends on user interaction to help generate reviews, organized groups, and the gifting features. Without high user retention, a cascading failure effect would arise, as less interaction leads to less users, which leads to less interaction.
What question does the prototype seek to answer?
To answer the HMW, this prototype seeks the focus on the question on how a user finds events. This prototype also covers the fact that the user wouldn't have many difficulties to operate due to its simplicity.
Biggest risk involved?
The biggest risk of this prototype is that it only shows one event at a time. Though this is a very simple feature, it makes it so users cannot find performances that could potentially fit them due to it only showing one event at a time. The absense of a search bar could potentially bring about issues when a user wants to discover a certain event that they have heard about.
