Each year Che Abram tracks any issues of concern that are shared with her by faculty, staff, and students within the School. As you review this page, you will be able to review data pertaining to the number of issues reported to her, diversity statements that she shared out to the School community, and faculty/staff and student demographic information.
In the past she was able to decipher which of these concerns may be tracked by the Chief of Diversity role and which (few) would be elevated to campus reporting systems. Going forward, she will continue to to track these issues and is required to report future concerns to the Office for the Prevention of Harrassment and Discrimination (link is external) as required by the UC Anti-Discrimination Policy (link is external). “The University of California is committed to maintaining a community dedicated to the advancement, application and transmission of knowledge and creative endeavors through academic excellence, where all people who participate in University programs and activities can work and learn together in an atmosphere free of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. The UC Anti-Discrimination Policy (link is external) prohibits harassment and discrimination based on an individual’s actual or perceived Protected Category, as well as retaliation. Please see the policy for definitions.
The UC Anti-Discrimination Policy defines Protected Category as "an identity protected by federal or state law, including the following: race, religion, color, citizenship, national or ethnic origin, ancestry, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, lactation or related medical conditions), gender, gender identity, gender expression, gender transition, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability (including having a history of a disability or being regarded as being disabled), medical condition (cancer-related or genetic characteristics), predisposing genetic information (including family medical history), marital status, age (at least 40 years of age), or veteran or military status."
Che would like to use this opportunity to encourage all members of our community to report any concerns related to prohibited conduct to the Office for the Prevention of Harrassment and Discrimination.
