Development Program

Purpose

The purpose of the Development Program is to assist engineering student organizations in upholding the values of Blue and Gold Certification. All certified and non-certified organizations are welcome to join, and our hope is to provide personalized training plans for each individual organization in order to help them meet the Blue and Gold requirements and better their organization as a whole.

Description

  • All organizations will participate in a few group meetings with the entire program, including a more in-depth session of the Equitable Strategies Training.

  • All organizations will also participate in monthly 1-on-1s throughout the year with a designated ESC representative.

  • During the first 1-on-1, the organization and their designated ESC representative will establish their end-goals and the metrics by which they will determine how far along the organization is towards these goals.

  • Each month will have a different focus; the designated ESC representative serves as a consultant assisting in tackling each issue that the organization faces.

  • The designated ESC representative will present ideas for how their assigned organization could be more inclusive.

    • Some examples of good plans to work on are: personalized surveys that target specific issues, internal meetings to discuss inclusivity within the organization, etc.

  • The designated ESC representative will attend at least two meetings towards the beginning of the year.

  • This will be an “onboarding/recruitment” meeting and an exec-level meeting.

    • Student organizations are advised to look ahead with regards to whether they might need help for later phases of ESC Affiliation and anticipate this need by joining the Development Program.

  • Once an organization is in the Development Program, they can reapply to be Blue and Gold Certified at the next opportunity, but not throughout the phase.

Benefits

  • FiComm funding will be reserved for organizations that are Blue and Gold Certified with ESC or in the Development Program.

  • All organizations in the Development Program (if they are committed) can expect to significantly improve the safety, transparency, inclusivity, and success of their organization.

  • Finally, all organizations (if they are committed) will be prepared to reapply for Blue and Gold Certification and gain access to all benefits that come along with it.

Requirements

  • Statement of commitment

  • Attendance at all full meetings of the Development Program and all monthly 1-on-1s

  • Organizations must allow the designated ESC representative to attend executive meetings.

  • Organizations must be willing to collaborate with the designated ESC representative towards the end-goals agreed upon at the first 1-on-1 meeting. How to join
