U.S. Naval fleets are finding difficulty in defending surface vehicles when docked at foreign harbors. Interested in exploring the utility of heterogeneous groups of unmanned surface vehicles (USV) to counter a similar adversary force, NSWC Carderock interns plan to rapidly prototype small USVs exploring vehicle design, autonomy, payloads, and modularity with a low budget simulating foreign countries. Meanwhile, NSWC Panama City and NSWC Dahlgren will use specialized weaponry and high cost USV/UUVs to defend NSWC Carderock's attacks. The teams face-off against each other during the final week to see what defensive and attack approaches were most effective.
