DON'T HAVE AN HVAC SYSTEM?
THEN AN AIR
PURIFIER IS YOUR BEST BET.
An air purifier's three main components are:
a fan used to draw air through the unit
a HEPA filter used to trap small particles
an activated carbon filter used to trap large particles

An air purifier cleans air in specific rooms. 1) A fan draws in air. 2) Filters remove harmful particles from the air.

How do I use an air purifier to clean my air?
Close all windows in your room and place your air purifier somewhere in the room, preferably away from walls. Then turn your air purifier on its highest setting for an hour to clean the existing air in the room. After an hour has passed, reduce the unit's speed to low/medium. Doing this will keep the air in your room stable and relatively clean if the windows/doors stay closed.
How do I choose an air purifier?
Many different air purifiers exist on the market, and you can find one for any room size. In our recommendations, we list the top air purifiers based on our research for small, medium, and large rooms; however, if you prefer to shop for other purifiers, see below so that you know what to look for.
Make sure it moves enough air to clean your room properly. The retailer websites often exaggerate the size of the room that can be cleaned. To figure out whether a unit can effectively service your room, check its CFM (ft³ of air processed per minute) rating.
Check the price - there are many quality air purifiers that are affordable.
Make sure it is ozone free.
Make sure it is reasonably quiet. A noise level >60 dB is too loud for residential use.
