Rhodopis lived in Greece and was kidnapped when she was a young girl by pirates. The Pirates took her to Egypt where it was very hot and she felt scared. Rhodopis was sold into horrible slavery, She grew up and looked different to the other girls there . Her master did nothing but sleep most of the day. Rhodopis was upset that the servant girls were very unkind and bullied her daily.

Rhodopis danced happily with the animals when she had finished all of her work. When her master had woken up he saw her Beautiful dancing and had an idea. He went and brought her some stunning ruby red slippers that were gold underneath and were leather inside. The horrid servant girls were very jealous of Rhodopis and her new slippers and made her work harder so that she was extremely tired. The unkind servant girls didn’t invite Rhodopis to the Pharaoh's court because she was different from them . They all received an important invitation to go and meet the Pharaoh where he was holding court the evil servant girls thought of a plan.

The horrid servant girls didn’t let Rhodopis go. So they left her behind all alone. A hippo splashed mud on Rhodopis brand new slippers She takes off her slippers to clean them in the water and keep them safe. A huge falcon swooped down and took one of her slippers. Rhodopis was so upset that the falcon had pinched one of her slippers. She sat in sadness.

The Pharaoh was day dreaming when Rhodopis ruby red slipper landed on to his lap. The king of Egypt set out to find the owner of the slipper. The king sailed for a long time along the Nile in search of the owner. The servant girls arrived at Egypt and tried to fit their feet in the small slipper while Rodopis hid. The king spotted Rhodopis. She tried on the slipper and it fitted her. The king asked Rhodopis to marry him and she became queen.
