Long, long ago, In a very hot and sunny desert which was by the River Nile Lived a young lady called Rhodopis who was born in Greece but not long after she was Kidnapped by some big scary Pirates. When this happened she was taken down to Eygpt where is was Sunny, Hot and Bright skies but sadly she was sold for slavery. But her owner turned out to be a very old looking man called Charaxos.

She was always bullied because she looked different to other servant girls she lived with. Their hair was straight and black while Rhodopis was brown and curly. Their skin was golden copper but hers was pale and burnt easily. They were so mean, nasty and upsetting towards Rhodopis they called her Rosy Rhodopis. They treated her like a real life slave shouting at her to do this and that “Mend my robe”.. “Chase the geese”, “Bake my bread”.

Rhodopis loved animals she didn't have any friends, only sweet and beautiful animals. She learnt them to do several sweet things such as the birds eating out of her soft hand, monkeys sitting on her shoulder and hippopotamus would slide up the mud bank just to be close to Rhodopis.

One evening Rhodopis was enjoying herself having a dance when her owner awoke as he did he watched her swiftly dance. As Rhodopis was dancing Charaoux realised she shouldn't do so without shoes. So he ordered her some lovely leather rose-red gold slippers and the sole was made with beautiful leather.

The servants was now very jealous and disliked Rhodopis because of her beautiful slippers, Rhodopis felt very upset as she could attend Court in Memphis and everybody was invited to attend. As the servants prepared to leave in there lovely clothes they gave Rhodopis more horrible chores to complete. Rhodopis felt so down and alone.

The servants got ready for the gathering in there beautiful clothes but Rhodopis was upset because she was left to do chores. As she began to wash the clothes at the river she became upset and started singing a sad song the hippo was grew tired of this song. As she carried on with her miserable chores the sky darkened as Rhodopis looked up she saw a falcon sweep down, snatch one of her slippers and fly away.

Rhodopis knew Harus who was the one that took her shoe. When the Falcon dropped down the rose-red golden slipper Harus sent out maidens to look for whom it belonged to. The owner of the slipper would be found and become his queen.

By time the servant girls arrived the celebrations ended and the Pharaoh had left by Chariot in search of the golden slipper.

Once the falcon had dropped the rose red golden slipper the Pharaoh ordered Maidens to search for the owner. They all went jolly and polite ready to look everywhere and do there duties.

The servants ran excitedly to the landing to try on the slipper shoe while Rhodopis hid away in the bushes feeling confused, unsettled and bothered. As soon as the servant girls saw the shoe they knew it belonged to Rhodopis but instead of telling the truth they all tried on the shoe and tried forcing it to fit. The Pharaoh saw Rhodopis hiding and asked her to come and try on the slipper. She slid her foot into the slipper and pulled the other one from her tunic shocked, alarmed and terrified.

The Pharaoh made a big announcement that she Rhodopis would become his queen. The servant girls angrily cried out shes a slave and not even an Egyptian sickened, disgusted and insulted. The Pharaoh said “she is the most Egyptian of all”...for her eyes are as green as the Nile, her hair as feathery as papyrus and her skin is pink of a lotus flower.
