What did you learn about God?
Discussion Ideas: God is fair, God sticks to his word. God still loved Adam and Eve
even after they sinned, so too God loves you and me even if we sin.
What did you learn about yourself?
Discussion Ideas: God has given me a choice in life – free will, he didn’t want me to be a puppet
in slavery. I can choose to obey, or I can choose to disobey.
What did I learn about sin?
Discussion Ideas: If we sin, there is a consequence. But God had a plan to send a child called
Jesus to remove the sting of death, which is sin, I can be forgiven!

For the younger children, you can sift out a few questions, you do not need to go through all of these.
You can have a look at the questions and talk about them.

1. Did Adam and Eve remain perfect, innocent and content? No, Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. This was the first sin. (Gen 3:6-7)
2. Why did Adam and Eve eat the fruit from the tree? The devil tricked them. (Gen 3:13)
3. Who is the devil? The devil is also called Satan, is a fallen angel who wants to take glory from God.
4. Who was responsible for Adam and Eve eating the fruit? Both Adam and Eve freely chose to disobey God and were responsible for their sin.
5. What happened to Adam and Eve when they disobeyed God? They became sinful AND SEPERATED FROM God when they disobeyed him. (Gen 3: * hid from God, Isaiah 59:2)
6. What did God say would happen to the serpent for its part in the first sin? God said the serpent would be cursed more than any other animal. (Genesis 3:14.)
7. What did God say would happen to Eve for her parting the first sin? She would have increased pain giving birth and her relationship with Adam became difficult. ( Gen 3: 16)
8. What did God say would happen with Adam for his part in the sin? He would have to work hard to produce food to eat. (Gen 3:17 )
9. What did God promise Adam and Eve would happen one day? That one of their offspring would strike the head of the serpent one day. (Gen 3:15)
10. What happened to Adam and Eve after God judged the? They had to leave the garden. (Gen 3:22)
11. What effect did Adam and Eve’s sin? All people since have been born with a sin nature. ( Romans 3:23)
12. What effect did their sin have on all creation? All of creation has been curses and is no longer as it should be.
13. What is sin? Sin is disobeying God by doing what He forbids, not doing what He commands, or not having the right attitude toward Him or others.
14. Where does sin begin? Sin begins in the heart, where we choose not to fulfil our created purpose to love, worship, glorify God as he deserves. (James 1:14)
15. Is there anyone who does not sin? No everyone sins. (Romans 3:23)
16. What does every sin deserve? Death and separation from a holy God. (Romans 6:23)
17. How does sin impact a person’s relationship with God? Because God is perfect, no one can be sinful and have a relationship with God. (Isaiah 59:1-2)
18. Do people have to die and stay separated from God because of sin? No, God has provided a ways to be forgiven of sin, to be saved from death, and to enjoy a relationship with Him. (Acts 2:38-39)
