God is distinct (above and beyond) from everything he made.
(He is above and beyond creation—transcendent!)
God doesn’t need anything from us. He is already complete and perfect!
God takes care of everything he made.
(He is close to us and keeps the whole universe going - Immanent)
God doesn’t come to us needing anything.
Instead, he comes to help us when we are in need. (See Isaiah 57:15)
We worship God because he is God, not because he needs something from us, or because he owes us something.
Can you see how the oil stays on top of the water? Just
like the oil, God is above and beyond all. This means He is separate and different from
creation. He is the ruler of all things He created. He is not the same as creation. God doesn’t need creation to exist, He existed before He made everything, but we need God to
exist.
Below is a fun way to try and show how God created the spaces in the first three days, and then filled them in days 4, 5 and 6. Did you notice that in the story?
