"Art Evokes Feeling", a quote said by Leo Tolstoy. Where art is an expression or representation of reality or your emotions. The video above is my Aesthetics Midterms where I was able to turn my partner, Alexa Gonzaga into a beautiful room. But what is the philosophy behind it?
My professor's previous lessons was able to teach me about the values and how can we evaluate art. I learned terms like Intrinsic and Extrinsic where art can have it's own value or how it can be valuable by it's given moral lessons. With that, I learned different theories, such as; Mimetic Theory, where art is a representation or imitation reality and Expressive theory, where art is something that I person used to express their emotions on. Those two theories was enough for me to understand the the difference between representation and expression in art. In addition, I also learned the representational principles of non-visual art.
Non-visual art is art that isn't in forms like a painting or a sculpture. Usually, non-visual art can be in forms of literature, music, and performance. How can I apply these principles to my midterm output? My output is Conditional-specific, which means that it requires explanation to the audience for them to understand how It represents my partner, Alexa. For Alexa on the other hand, it became unconditional because she knows that this room is her and she is this room.
