Each Benchmark student is issued a benchmarkschool.org email, generally in the format of last name and first initial at benchmarkschool.org. For example, John Smith’s sign-in would be smithj@benchmarkschool.org. This email acts as the username for the student's google account. As a reminder, this account should be used for academic purposes only. Your teacher can provide the password for the account.
Benchmark uses G Suite for Education. G Suite for Education is a comprehensive collection of Google tools and services for school use, including docs, slides, drawings, and classroom.
To access google drive from home on a traditional laptop:
use the Google Chrome platform to access the internet (not Mozilla Firefox, Safari or Microsoft Edge).
go to www.google.com
If the student is using a dedicated computer at home, use the top google sign in . This will automatically sign the student into all their apps and sync their bookmarks.
If the student is using a shared computer, open the "waffle" on the top right, open whatever app is needed such as drive or classroom, and the student will be prompted to sign in to that app.
On an iPad, the student can open any of the google apps such as mail or drive and sign in.
To add your printer to your Chromebook
At the bottom right, select the time.
Select Settings .
At the bottom, select Advanced.
Under "Printing," select Printers.
Under "Available printers to save," next to your printer, select Save.
Check that your printer appears at the top, under "Saved printers."
Printing from a Chromebook is tricky, as it depends on the newness of the printer at home. New printers with Google Cloud Print intgrated into them will work. There is a very real chance that some older printers in our students' households just won't be able to print from a Chromebook.
