Gender dysphoria is when a person's gender identity doesn't match with their physical appearance or body, and this causes them to feel uncomfortable in their own body.
It is a feeling that is difficult to articulate; its hard to understand what it feels like unless you have experienced it, and people do experience it in different ways.
Along with a physical aspect, gender dysphoria can also have negative affects on people's mental health.
"There's always just this weird feeling in the background like I'm not in the right body and it sucks," (Anonymous).
There are many different ways to combat gender dysphoria. Some of these ways involve changing your gender expression. By changing your clothes and hair, or even your pronouns and name, this can help you with gender dysphoria.
Some other ways to help you deal with gender dysphoria are things like therapy. A place to talk about it can make you feel better.
Binding is a strategy that mainly AFAB but also intersex people use. It is essentially using binders to compress your breasts so they aren't seen. Binding can be dangerous if not done in the right way, and it can be hard to breathe. In general, you want to reach out to a doctor and use the commercially sold binders and not trying to make your own.
