After the death of Josip Broz Tito, the former president of Yugoslavia, the Yugoslav Wars developed due to the growing nationalism and ethnic clashes within the region leading to the inevitable breakup of the federal republic. As one of history's biggest disasters, with military alliances such as NATO exacerbating conflict between provinces contributing to the chaos, it was a turning point forever changing Europe political geography and populations. From the six different countries formed after the collapse and also leading to the deaths of more than 130,000 people, a lesson of differences from ethnic ties leading to hostile conditions can be examined from Yugoslavia.
