Next deadline: Due at the end of the block on Monday, February 4th - Second body paragraph

Monday, January 28th

1. Welcome back from Midterm Exams!

2. Recap - You have already:

  • researched your topic and found at least four articles
  • created notecards that are linked to the articles/sources
  • created your partial outline in Noodletools (Introduction, Thesis statement, and 3 topic sentences - each topic sentence is a reason from your thesis statement)

3. Now you need to complete your outline, but before you do......

  • Check your notecards and be sure you have read my feedback and made revisions as needed
  • Be sure you have given enough context/details on your notecards; remember, these notecards paraphrase (in your own words) information from the article, they shouldn't summarize (shortened version of information)
  • Check the titles of your notecards to be sure they are clear; you can even update the titles of the notecards to indicate which reason (topic sentence) they match
  • Type in a citation (Author's Name) at the end of the paraphrasing for each notecard.
  • The better "shape" your notecards are in, the faster it will be to complete the outline.

Then you can start "moving" your notecards to the outline. Click here for a video that shows how to include your notecards in your outline in Noodletools. This is the same video you used to create the partial outline - the beginning of the video shows how to create the outline, and then at 0:35 in the video, it shows how to click and drag the notecards to the appropriate part of the outline.

How to print your outline with notecards

  • On the Print menu above the Tabletop, select Outline with notecards.
  • Select the Google Docs format from the drop-down menu
  • Select notecard items to print, as seen below. By default, all notecard items will all be included. Unmark the checkboxes next to any elements that you wish to omit. Click Submit.
  • Your outline will be created in a googledoc - you need to move this googledoc to your Research Paper folder (in the US1 folder) so that I can check it.

  • Recommendation:
    • 1:15 pm - 2:00 pm - Check/revise/update notecards
    • 2:00 pm - 2:24 pm - Insert notecards into outline
