NEW for 2026-2027 ~ Wonderbooks
Imagine a regular book, but it reads out loud to you while you turn the pages. That’s exactly what a Wonderbook is!
It looks and feels just like a normal printed book you'd check out from the library, but there is a cool audio player permanently attached to the inside of the front cover.
Here is why they are so fun to use:
No Screens or Internet Needed: You don't need a tablet, a computer, Wi-Fi, or any passwords. You just open the book, hit the play button, and the story starts.
Listen Your Way: The little control panel has its own speaker so you can listen out loud in your room, or you can plug in your own headphones if you are in the car or a quiet place.
Read-Along Mode: A professional narrator (sometimes even the author) reads the story with cool voices and sound effects. You can follow along with the words on the page, which makes reading a lot more exciting.
Learning Mode: Once you finish the story, you can press a button to switch to "Learning Mode." The book will actually ask you fun quiz questions about what you just read!
The Wonderbook you just checked out from the McKelvie Library will hold its charge for 12 to 15 hours. This is enough time to finish the title you borrowed. The Wonderbooks only circulate fully charged. A Wonderbook uses a standard micro-USB charger.
When you are not actively using the Wonderbook you check out, please keep it safely in the sleeve that was provided upon checkout. If lost or damaged, this read-along book is highly valuable to our McKelvie Library.
It's basically an audiobook and a regular book smashed into one awesome package. You can find ninteen of them at the McKelvie Intermediate School Library!
