Counseling Activities

When counseling children, I utilize a multimodal approach depending on the needs of the child. Because children often lack problem solving skills, my goal is to give them basic skills to help them navigate peer relationships, anxiety/emotions, school difficulties, and other barriers that can hinder learning and emotional health. Researched based play therapy is another widely used form of counseling that I use to help children communicate. "In the play therapy relationship, toys are like the child's words and play is the child's language," Garry L. Landreth Ed.D, LPC, RPT-S. With active listening and unconditional positive regard for each child, I serve as an advocate for your child. If your child needs to see the School Counselor on an ongoing basis, I will notify you for permission.
